Guys starting another thread on VL's(funny that)But I would like to know when your vl was made. Our wagon is 1/87 Ozzie new and imported in 2005. Wanting to see who has the earliest and who has the latest. Also if NZ new?but Ozzie assembled or NZ assembled or Ozzie new and imported such as ours. Cheers Marty

Holden GTS - first registered in February '88. I'm guessing it's NZ assembled as it has one of them crappy painted VIN tags.

If you mean the thin body tag, they are ment to be the same colour as the body.do you know the manufacture date? Also it may of been auzzie assembled but had the GTS treatment here. What is the last letter stamped on the strut tower top on the passengers side. Cheers Marty

Stamped on the tag or the actual strut top? Can't see much on the strut top. Last letter on the tag is L

All GTS's were New Zealand assembled, which is why they have the 'home-made' type body tag on the passengers strut tower and nothing on the firewall... My Sedan was built in December 1986 and first registered January 15th 1987. My Wagon was built in October 1987 and first registered January 11th 1988. My old Brown Wagon was built in June 1987 and first registered August 5th 1987. I'm such a geek Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Yes most where late 700 builds due to aust trying to get rid of them. So 241 was a good number for me to have they say the first 500 where built better quality wise, and first 100 had hand built Perkins engines so they say. It's in Cambridge now think it's done 45000 kms now?

Cheers Marty Do we know how many vl gts's were made I had one in 1996 to 2004 it was the classic red one, I was told 500 but no proof of that and what would be the ratio? Of white and red. Just as a interest note of how old and classic the vl has become, me and my mate went from Thames to whitianga, in my vl gts with a rb25det I converted into it in 1998 we passed 6 vl gts's that day all were white! I can't remember the last time I saw one on the road? VL Dan I hadn't heard of the shock issues? When I owned mine the aust boys always went on about how better the first 500 were but hey they all look the part to me.

Cheers Marty The rims were made right here in NZ by Cheviot (as stamped on the inside of the rim) but unsure about the front and rear foam spoilers.

I had a white GTS. It was stolen in 1998. It hadn't even done 100k k's There were 2 other white and 2 maroon/red around at the same time. One white GTS was engine transplanted with a RB30ET a few years later then sold. It had a Brock front fitted but retained the gts rear spoiler.

The enigine in my Berlina is out of a GTS, but the same as any other motor i guess. Have heard the urban legends before that the GTS motor had a different cam.
