I'm about to have a gt42 turbo slapped on my vl currently running a stock turbo and manifold through a halltec E6x comp.... just wondering how it will affect the tune on the car, like will it be drivable I'm Not sure what boost they need either mines set up for 9 psi, If anyone has any info that would be helpful I'd appreciate it thanks

A gt42 sounds way to big for your setup there for 30psi plus you should look at a gt3540 nice street turbo and make good power on 10psi a gt42 on low boost will be lagy and **** power ive got a gt42 but mine will be on 30psi but up to you ---------- Post added 16-07-12 at 12:32 ---------- Are you getting a 4202 or 4294

I just looked up turbo to suit vl and it looked like the go 1000 hp rated for 970 brand new i did a lil reading on here about them and most feedback was good, I'm not looking for crazy power yet but I figured it would save me buying another if I did want more in the future I plan to run minimal boost as the motor is standard turbo, I'm only asking because Im getting it all put together at an exhaust place locally then i plan to get it dyno'd in cranbourne about 80 km drive from where I live ---------- Post added 16-07-12 at 12:35 ---------- Oh **** I already bought it ---------- Post added 16-07-12 at 12:41 ---------- And I only listed a few things it's a 5 Sp with halltec e6x ecu has cooler, xf throttle body new fuel pumps fuel reg got a bov for new set up and getting bigger injectors as well + top mount t4 manifold running to 3 1/4 " system with high flow cat.... But probably still overkill? ---------- Post added 16-07-12 at 12:51 ---------- Not to sure it didn't say just said gt42 turbo Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

For $1000 its will be a chinese nock off the genuine retail for 1500 for the bush berring and 2500 for the ball berring models.... I know grant from broboost does a decent quality 42 but its still bush berring...man and its over kill for your setup....ull be lucky to see boost befor 4000rpm ull hate the way it drives, id sell it and buy a gt3540 perfect street/strip turbo for a budget set up

Ya wastegate doesnt determine how quick it comes on to boost that just controls ya boost levil, ya exhaiust housing determines how quick it comes on aswell as ya tune...theres many factors involved mate and 60% is ya tune

I can't I have a 970 credit with this bloke and he only has that range so i will most likly get the gt 40 because the next one down again is a t3 flange I shoulda put this thread up before I got it and just wondering if I'd be safe with 550cc injectors or should I go bigger? Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Dude stick a link up to his site and let the people here see what he has on offer, there might be something there that will suit your needs. A perfect street turbo in a manual is a small housing 35/40, the ones that were on the BA falcon turbos. But post up an link and we will have a look whats there.

And madrex your so right about my mate he helped me buy it when it was a stock auto with a bolt on t4 hiflow and cooler kit the bloke told us it was a stock shell with bt1 running gear because he wrote his last car off, my mate ( vl expert ) checked it out told me I'd be silly not to get it, me knowing nothing more than I had to have one, due to driving another friends and instantly falling in love. Long story short this car owes me 13500 at the moment at 141 kw and has taken the better part of 3 years to get on the road, i was going to sell it but I've been getting nothing but **** offers nothing close to the 6500 I was asking so I'm like stuff it I've come This far I mite as well get it to what I want, think Ima come strait to this site For any help in the future as my advice so far has been terrible lol and thanks heaps for all your help do far guys much appreciated! ---------- Post added 16-07-12 at 15:16 ---------- Or chaser go on eBay and look up user Ned351 ---------- Post added 16-07-12 at 15:46 ---------- Also I can get a set Of bosh 680 cc injectors a little cheaper than the 550cc what would be my best option?

Thanks ^^^^there's not a lot on there but if you go into the gt 35 add and look at the description it has a full list of what he can get in that ---------- Post added 16-07-12 at 19:45 ---------- Basically I have the choice of a gt 40 or 42 old mate recommend the 42 over the 40, does anyone know what rmp range I'll start to get Boost out of the 40?? And also some one earlier said the 42 doesnt start to come Onto boost till about 4000 rpm, but apparently they hit boost way before then according to the bloke im getting it from, i just don't know enough about them anyone with either that has Some info or advise would be great

So like I said it has to be a gt40 or 42, I'm plenty crazy enough but will my stock block be strong enough?
