hey guys, been on the forum for a while but havent had much to any input but i thought id put up a build thread for something to do. im pretty noob at it so i hope all the photos etc load properly a few years ago i bought a manual silver vl for bashing about and whatnot which looked like this then one night i was being too awesome in it and crashed it so it sat for a while when i was deciding what to do with it, so i chose the logical answer which was to buy another one and turn it into a bit of a project. but i intended to buy one with a straight body and better interior to put the 5 spd into. long story short i ended up buying this which is a pretty haggard berlina but as i needed had reasonably tidy interior and mostly straight body so i figured id use the two and put them together to make something nice one day. so i stripped all the interior out cleaned it all up a bit. got it ready for the work that was ahead. removed the ****ted diff (had been welded and one of the welds failed) removed the auto box. bought a new 5spd and got it inspected and rebuilt. bought an exedy hd clutch and machined flywheel, bought exchange trailing arms, new gt munros struts, lovells in the rear and kingsprings in the front, whiteline front sway bar, new unis, got the diff painted, tailshaft balanced, new brakes all around, new ac condensor and more. and of course all amidst this work i have had the car resprayed in a dark purple over silver. pics in the booth car looks quite black in photos but is dark purple lol i have also bought a new engine to build for it but il get into that maybe another time its been sitting for a while since respray, ive added a few bits and peices here and there but its mainly waiting for me to get my act together and also find some money for it haha apprentice mechanics dont earn enough! next steps are to complete the manual setup and then getting it ready for rego time basically. it sits on ceptors but i have calais wheels waiting for a polish and maybe some walls for when its tyre time. most recent pics (standard springs in the front) going for a mock up calais look obviously. that about sums it up for the night, il update it as i continue and i hope you like what you see! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
