Looking to fit the vt tiwn piston front brakes onto my vl.
Does anyone know where I can purchase the hub adaptors from over here?? I have seen them on ebay, but trying to see if i can purchase them locally.
Would be keen to hear some feedback on anyone running this upgrade. Was looking into the nissan upgrade option, but apparantley these will not clear a 15" rim

advanced for ford and holden in auckland to a package and a reasonable price. simon brought this for his vl turbo and they work really well, it includes brand new rotors, used calipers, new pads and custom hoses. easy and painless conversion imo

This dude on Trade Me has just hubs, but they are fooking expensive:

I have done the upgrade, and I have little mechanical knowledge, but it is pretty simple, and I did it on my own. And it works! But as Danny suggested, it is best to get a kit with all the bits you need. Rare Spares probably have a kit, but it will be pricey!

just use the vl turbo rotor

make sure you use the VT master cylinder

will the vlt rotor allow me to fit the vt callipers?

yes it does, not a exact fit but its a cheaper option

another option if you have access to a lathe would be to machine down the small vl rotor to the VT hub size but would have to do some measurements first to see if its possible, then simply fit the vt rotor,(buy the slotted flash ones)

Yes it will work, but it's not a particularly safe mod. Should the brake pads wear down too much, there is the possibility they could fall out of the caliper. Not ideal. Do it once, do it right! Sure, it's not cheap, but it just means you have to save up a for a bit longer. Brakes are not something you want to take shortcuts with. We've all been in your position, it sucks having bugger all cash, but the end result is always worth it!

V8/Turbo Booster, 1 Inch Master Cylinder with good pads/discs and a fully flushed brake fluid system is just as good as any VT setup.
My sedan still runs drums on the rear and after I rebuilt them and completely flushed the brake fluid out, the pedal became alot higher and will stop the car as good if not better than VT/VX's I've driven at work

17-06-12, 18:54 GMT+10#13 You'd need a cert for hub adapters too, so it really depends what you want to achieve. If it's just an upgrade to your daily, slotted disks, decent pads and a fluid flush would do the trick. If it's a long term project, there are plenty of options. No point getting a cert for one upgrade.

01-07-12, 18:54 GMT+10#14 The plan is to run a mild rb30et or inj 304, the car is a bit of a side project at the moment, so not looking for anything too extreme or costly. Just want an improvement over the standard brakes. Have got a disc brake rear end which I'll fit when I upgrade the fronts. Have got a vs booster and vt master to fit up aswell.
Was reading the original build thread for DOSEIT ,and saw a post about it being fitted with vs callipers and 290ml rotors, anyone running this setup? just wanting to find out if its a bolt on job or if I will still require those hub adaptors.

01-07-12, 22:00 GMT+10#15 VS Calipers and 290mm rotors are VL Turbo/V8 brakes. Single piston finned calipers...
Only real upgrade would be VT Twin piston calipers, or Willwood's as Danny mentioned.

02-07-12, 07:55 GMT+10#16 Holden have only changed brake calipers a few times since the model was first started (VB). I'm not sure about pre VL Commies, but VL - VS had the finned/fin-less variety depending on spec. VT calipers serviced everything pre VE. VE has new calipers.
