Description Up forsale is my 1986 VL Calais + turbo. I bought the car about 18 months ago as a dead stock calais, and since then I've performed all the following modifications my self. Vehicle is 100% EPA noise and emmision control equipment approved and documents will be supplied with sale. Vehicle is unregistered, but registration can be arranged in NSW, or permit to drive if you live in another state.
Engine:
Original RB30e engine
Reconditioned head, h/duty valve springs, surecam 215/215 cam, cometic headgasket, 8.5:1 comp, brand new head bolts, new inlet, exhaust, rocker cover gaskets. All new exhaust studs and bolts. Timing belt, seals and tensioner replaced. Powerbond underdrive harmonic balancer. NGK leads and plugs. Transmission oil cooler
Turbo setup:
Stock vlt exhaust manifold, modified to accept turbonetics 38mm external wastegate. Wastegate plumbed into dump pipe. GFB boost controller. GKTECH stealth intercooler kit with alloy piping, stock airbox. Turbo is currently running 8psi. Turbo is a T04E compressor and turbine wheel, with a machined stock t3 rear housing to accept the bigger wheels for faster spool. Previous vehicle the turbo setup was on made 240kw@18psi through an auto.
Transmission:
Reconditioned jatco automatic transmission, was reconditioned by previous owner. Only factory spec rebuild so recommend manual conversion or built auto to take advantage off engine work. Large transmission cooler fitted.
Exhaust:
3in turbo back exhaust, mandrel bent, tig welded, lukey 3in centre muffer, magnaflow round rear muffler. EPA legal 89db output.
Engine management:
Wolf3d v4 plugin ecu with hand controller, GTR 444cc injectors, Bosch 044 fuel pump, sard adjustable fuel reg.
Suspension:
Lowered king springs and monroe shocks replaced 3000ks ago, stock vl disc brakes front and rear with bendix pads.
Wheels:
18in International style wheels, with 80% tyres all round.
Interior:
Red Calais interior, custom red leather seat covers, autotechnica wheel, rear and side horizontal venetians, power windows and mirrors, HID headlights, alpine 4" front speakers, alpine 6x9 rear speakers.
Bad points:
Windscreen leaks slightly under heavy rain and has slight surface rust along the bottom of the window, will need to be resealed and treated to prevent leaks in the future.
Front bar needs respray as gold paint is flaking off.
Ecu will need retune if you want to run more boost, only running stock boost (8psi). At the moment has a pretty good low load tune which sees good around town economy, but needs decent tune in the higher revs and load.
Please note the car is a genuine calais, but IS NOT a genuine turbo model!
Drivers side front and rear window needs pwr window motors adjusted as you need to help lift them up with your hand.
Great car and i would love to keep it as a toy and perform more future mods, but i dont have the time and the cash could be spent elsewhere at the moment
Price includes 6 months NSW rego, will lower the price a little if bought unregistered. Can supply a pink slip and/or organise a permit for out of state buyers. Can also drop off to a transport depot if freight is needed.
