CAS is a main problem with vls, when faulty they cut out when the car gets to a certain temp. It is best advised to replace the whole CAS unit, not just the sensor itself (ie. bearing, plug if necessary) or change over with a working unit. It can throw the timing out so if you havn't done it before its best to get someone who knows, or take it too a mechanic. But saying that, it could also be another problem so you can either take a punt or walk away.

what ever you do - DO A PERSONAL SECURITIES SEARCH on ANY car you think about buying. It will cost you a whole 3 dollars and save you thousands. Saw a poor kid at vic roads yesterday who bought a WRX from some scumbag trying to transfer / register it and vic roads said - have a nice day- this is written off - it will never be on the road again..... FAIL

looks like it coulda taken a hit here and there... there is berlina stripes on one of the bumper trims but not the rest, there is also what looks like a different color in that front guard, the bumpers and rims also look a little wobbly... that said how easy could you straighten that out, id buy it provided the engine isnt farked

Yeah, I remember an auto electrician said he found that a coolant temp sensor can cause an engine to lose power , but I would think, say for example the sensor was shorted , that would cause the engine to lose power when cold also, an open circuit CTS would just cause the engine to run rich and use more fuel, maybe if it was that bad and started blowing black smoke, then yes, that will cause a power loss. It could be a fault related to the cooling system like a stuck thermostat or plugged radiator (overheating) , replacing the radiator in my car gave it more power (it was leaking anyway), it depends on how well the car has been maintained. A faulty o2 sensor can cause the same problem, particularly the later model cars where they rely heavily on the o2 sensor for adjustment (the VL's air flow meter is presetted and the o2 sensor does trims that again), the later Nissans like the R33 Skyline rely on o2 sensor feedback at idle and tend to ignore the AFM reading then, all the computer has to know then is that there is a voltage present from the air flow meter.. I can remember somebody had their R33 or R34 Skyline blowing black smoke and was getting 200 kms to a tank of fuel,it turns out that the o2 sensor was faulty.
