The more i drive it the higher it wants to idle. Just got home and it wants to idle at almost 4000!!!! I pull the afm off and it idles fine. This means the afm is f**ked right? Just want to make sure.

Hmm just went out and checked all the vac lines and double check afm. This time when i unplugged it, it started idling BAD like it was missing cylinders.

Blowing black smoke? A vac leak could also b blown inlet manifold gasket, dodgy injector seal

I was just told if the AFM is ****ed it wont rev past 2000 so it must be a vac leak. I cant find one anywhere though. Im just gonna take it to the shop 2moro. Its prob just an old hose that is fked because i only just got it back from having the turbo installed today. Bummer because i was having so much fun too!

Spray brake/carby cleaner round the gaskets when it picks up the idol more u found ur spot. Not all the time with the afm. Sometimes they will rev past 2 but blow a heap of black smoke.

Cheers mate. I got nothing with me coz im at my girls house tonight... but i suspect thats the problem as it gradually got worse. The bigger the leak the higher the revs? Would that be correct?

Until the leak gets to big n miss fires n plays games. Remember the second a vl ecu picks up a vac pressure rise it try's fixing itself by injecting more fuel. Hence high idol. Good luck wit it mate. Considering u just turboed it remember no matter how much u spend it will never have enough hp.lol u will get use to it n bored. so set ur self a goal n stick to it. Word of advice.lol

Most likely blown a cooler or vac hose off that wasnt put on tight enough after fitting turbo ,

just go over everything that was touched in the conversion. if manifolds were changed make sure nothing got caught between the faces like a wire or something. Hard to see but does happen. oh and IdAREU the ecu doesnt detect any manifold pressure rise at all. All its metering comes from the AFM which measures mass airflow so if there is a vacuum leak after it then no more fuel will be added at all. in fact it will run lean.

Cheers for the help guys. Turned out to be idle position screw and ecu idle adjuster. All good now!
