am needing a lil help on a conversion i might do if the vq stato dosnt sell thinking of putting either a rb26/rb30 or ls1 in it. Wanted to know if i go ls1 can i keep my old trans? and if i got rb26/rb30 exactly what do i need from the skyline/vl for it to be completed and running properly?? also what kind of stuffing around would be involved if i went either way as this would be my first conversion..Cheers People!

T700 behind a LS1 wouldn't last long. If you're looking to do the LS1 conversion - check out the LS1 conversion thread. It will be very similar to doing it on a VL.
RB26 / RB30 in a heavy ass VQ stato wouldn't be very good. The 5L V8 doesn't do well in them - cutting the motor down to 2.6L sure as hell won't help.

Yea dosnt sound good but wat you need for a car to move is torq and rb26's/rb30's expesialy worked are full of torq but yea is just and idea for now, have you seen the vk with stock rb26? does like 11 sec down the q mile stock..ne ways cheers for the help

vk you might be talking about is ndskyz pink vk runs 10.1 i think. runs some pretty decent gear

vk = 1200 kg
vq = 1900 kg
Cubes make torque.
Boost makes torque only at high revs / on boost.
If you want to move the behemoth that is called a VQ - you need cubes.

according to some different sites the vq is around 1500-1600kg's ???

ok.. maybe a little bit of an exageration, but it certainly feels like it.
Technically:
VQ = 1563kg
vs
VK = 1220kg
The VQ is 28% heavier than the VK.

dunno the one i have seen is brown/gold think it does run more like a 10 then a 11 qmile but owner claims its a stock rb26 so ive read, there used to be a pink vl with an rb26 in it getting around the northern subs but yea was just checking options atm thought a stato with an rb26 in it sounded pretty sik! lol does any one know if the 6lt would fit in a vq or would that be alot more stuffing around then an ls1 or even a stroked 5lt? Was even thinking of a chev 350 but they seem pretty hard to get parts for n stuff? Plus im trying to find the easyst and cheapst option realy but wats 2-3 g's when building a car neways? Are those weights shells without running gear? its just 700kgs between a vk and vq sounds like alot i thought the stato would be alot lighter and i thought the weight of a vk's running gear would be more then a vq's? Neways thanks fellas dont know much about these things so ne help is good help atm. Cheers

Wouldn the torq be grater in the rb26 then the 5lt taking in account boost and stuff? Just thought the 5lt's would be lagy as to the rb26? Ne ways im not trying to argue the point as i know **** all about cars but yea

10-04-12, 02:55 GMT+10#11 I'd go the ls1 with heads/cam package if you got the money. 300+rwkw, throw a turbo 350 behind it and go run some 11s
