Gas struts for bonnet got em off ebay strate bolt In should take five mins. But... How do u compress them when u have to use over 50kg of force or lean you whole body on them. It's a joke... Is there a trick to it. They over shoot the socket bolt on the guard, so I need to compress them while on the car. Iv Tryed putting a 10mm socket over the next bolt down on the guard n wedg it in to compress it lol almost bends the bonnet n springs back to fast. Thinking a chemical reaction by putting them in the fridg to decompress the air molecules. Come on lol is it this hard or is it just me. Any one done this and succeeded b4 let me know lol

??? Interesting way to look at it. they bolt straight in man. the bolt hole on the guard does not match up perfectly so it goes to the one towards the front of the car which mean your bonnet does not open as high.

I just dont want to take the Ez way out n go the low bonnet... thought there may be something to learn from this. I was following the instructions ud expect it to work. All vls are the same guard pattern so.. also noted that the gas goes very very cold in the fridg as if id pulled it from the freezer lol I could use them in my suspention there that good lol ill keep trying thanks Bro Speed

Just do one side at a time. Have someone hold the front of the bonnet whist it's in the air. Remove one guard bolt, Remove the second bolt on the hinge which is closest to the front & install. I ended up getting custom length struts from a strut supplier for my bonnet and even got it to open a bit higher than it used to. Can find the specs if your interested.

Yeah all good just went the end bolt on the hinge and the fith bolt down. Opens the same height but much smoother and sexier . Now to slide in the freshly painted clutch peddle, let the fun begin hehe Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
