Machining Lifter Holders?

hi all, has anyone heard about machining the lifter holders after fitting a big cam to a turbo? i ve heard they machine them if you get a reground cam but was told i should get it done with the cam im running? does anyone know any specs?

Yes that's correct u need to machine the lifter plates where the rocker arms sit coz u need to bring the rocker gear closer to to cam to Compinsate for the cam being machined ya cam machinist should tell u how much u need to have taken off

But I rang a head shop and they said that's only for a reground cam, where as I've got a street/race cam from crow and there's nothing on the spec sheet about it...

u need to speak to crow and see if they sold u a regrind or a billet....just coz its off the shelf doesnt mean its not a regring...make a call and check with them

send cam, lifters and lifter blocks to clive cams and he will sort it all out for you

Maybe if you didn't dose everywhere you go you wouldnt have broken a lifter.... Lucky someone was there to save you Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

hey champ i have just gone through this i had to machine 30thou of the lifter blocks to make my engine quiet , i measured how much clearance the tappts had and machine an extra 20 thou to give the lifter some preload its an easy job to remove them and just get the machine shop t machine them down my motor is quiet now no lifter noise
