Hey there boys and girls. The other day I picked up another vl for parts/to have a bit of fun with. When I picked it up, it started perfect, ran really well and so on (I drove it onto a car carrier trailer on its own power). But when I took it off, I started it, and stopped it straight away by accident. The battery is old so it didn't have enough juice to turn it over again, so I put the battery on charge overnight. This morning, I put it back in the car, but it won't turn over. It's getting power for sure, but it just clicks once, cuts power and won't turn over. The battery isn't dead, I get the feeling that the neutral safety switch may have a problem with it (it's an auto btw). Either that or the immobiliser has shat itself. I tried it with a good battery, and the weird thing is, when I turn the key, it clicks, and then the negative lead on the battery starts smoking. Any ideas? Kinda sound stupid asking, but I have no idea what it could be, especially considering I started it twice fine already. Short somewhere most likely. Appreciate any help! Rob

Sounds like the negative lead is dead.

Clean all the connections to your starter motor. I had a similar problem and that was my solution.
