put the nut on a couple of threads and get a piece of wood, hold it against it and give it a good whack. dont hit the column with the hammer or you'll bend the steering column.if that doesnt work well...it is a vn.

Some steering wheels are super tight if they've never been off before.
Put the nut on a thread or two, bang like **** from behind.
Nut is important or youll hit yourself in the head when it comes loose.

Spray some Penetrant spray on. Leave for a hour or two & you should be laughing.

me too, they've always come off for me never had to use a wheel puller
you have to really force them though, get up in the seat and heave it side to side but always with the wheel held on still by a few threads at least

15-03-12, 19:56 GMT+10#11 the best way if you have a **** puller is the block of wood, a hammer and 2 people
you put some preload on the steering wheel pull holding tension pulling it upwards, 2nd person hits the wood with a hammer that sits on the nut on 2-3 turns
should come off pretty easy

15-03-12, 21:19 GMT+10#14 ive had some real tight one but managed every time without a puller, push seat righ forward get you knees up behind the wheel pushing towards ya, and bang on eaither side on the wheel with you fists/palms, one side at a time. This has worked every time for me, sometimes takes awhile and hurts ya hands abit but should work. obviously with the nut on like everyone has said. but sounds like it doesnt wanna come off lol good luck

17-03-12, 00:54 GMT+10#17 I remember years ago I didn't have a steering wheel puller. So I sprayed the column with petetrant spray. Left it for a few hours & sat in the seat pulling the steering wheel has hard as I could. Well guess what. It let go & I smacked myself in the face with the steering wheel LOL.
