I think the 818 is suitable for an n/a application? The 818b is a turbo cam yes.

Does anyone know where a decent place is in sydney to buy cams and fit them? And also how much would a stage 3 cam cost fitted?

id say a basic tx1, tx2 or 818 when you do the turbo conversion!

its down to what you want now..... If your going to convert to turbo dont waste you money now save it for the conversion even if its just the cam. I use a camtech cam in mine, its pretty good but i need a adjustable cam gear to change the power band. O and i dont think a turbo cam will be any good on a na, the grind is totally different and is made for forced induction which has more overlap then an na cam, dont get me wrong it could work but timming will have to change i assume and power could be affected.

if your staying n/a crow tx2, nistune, 3.9 diff gears, 2.5 exhaust youll be haullin ass a mate had that set up in his r31 and fark me it felt like it was boosted thats what id be doin. it'll through you back whilst your doin your manies with your fully sick subwoofer cranking youll be pimp daddy on a serious note thats probably the way to go without buying the 10k plus 3.3litre stroker kit if you can still get em to only to have your car stolen as that happened to me.

Gay thread. If you're serious, contact a cam manufacturer.

Mate, im asking for other peoples opinions so I don't go and buy one brand and find out another was better. ---------- Post added 12-03-12 at 22:24 ---------- Quote: Originally Posted by vlaholic [View Post] if your staying n/a crow tx2, nistune, 3.9 diff gears, 2.5 exhaust youll be haullin ass a mate had that set up in his r31 and fark me it felt like it was boosted thats what id be doin. it'll through you back whilst your doin your manies with your fully sick subwoofer cranking youll be pimp daddy on a serious note thats probably the way to go without buying the 10k plus 3.3litre stroker kit if you can still get em to only to have your car stolen as that happened to me. By overlap do you mean both valves open at the same time? I thought turbo cams had ex valve closed while intake was open so that boost isnt lost out the ex valve?

yes thats pretty much how it works but to really understand find the turbo and na cam specs and you will understand how a na cam works compared to a turbo cam....... Remember a turbo cam relises on a turbo to work proply (maximum efficiency).

If your gonna go for a cam I would recommend the wade 818. Ive got one. Put it in a few weeks ago! Make sure you get performance valve springs aswell. If you ask anyone else they would tell you not to bother, just turbo it, as I am on the way to doing. But, in the meantime who's to say it's not worth it. Cost me all up $365 for the cam regrind, machined lifter housings, and the valvesprings. Thru it on the dyno and got retuned with an extra 14 kw atw. Total 114 kw :-)

LOL here it is http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/VL-stage-...em 3cbee16693 (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/VL-stage-4-RB30-ECU-PERFORMANCE-CHIP-holden-CAM-type-/260900480659?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cbee16693) BTW. Isn't the wade 818 cam to suit a turbo application. Meaning totally different compression ratio's. You would loose compression with a wade 818. With a NA engine you want a higher compression cam.

Hate to say it. But, ditch the chip. Throw it on a dyno, and get the operator to pump as out as much advanced ignition timing as possible and that will be more than sufficient. As apposed to a chip that will just change your fuel and ignition anyway, not to mention not as affective.
