i have an 88 n/a s/l and when i turn a corner at anything over 30km/h it shutters and whines. iv'e checked the fluids and belts but i dont know if i should be replacing the pump or just take it in to the mechanics and get them to replace rubbers/ boots as i dont really know what im looking for... can anyone give me an idea what to check?

Jack the front up & wriggle the tyre with your hands to see if theirs any slop in the steering/wheel. Might be the rack.

The steering system is pretty simple man, it can only be a couple of things. if you jack it up and have a look the problem will stand out.
