hi, i recently purchased a 3.46 lsd diff from a vz ss ute and put it into my manual vy s pac to replace the current single spinner 3.08 diff. i put the diff in yesterday adn thought today i better go and test it out see its all good. took the car for drive. and yes did a burnout as i wanted to see if the lsd was tight. all success it lsd straight away like it had a spool. did a second and lsd again. i continued driving the car and then noticed a clunk at low speed if i took off quick. and then i noticed some clunking at low speeds. i had not replaced the diff oil before i put it in. i did check it had oil by opening the fill bolt adn sticking my finger ALL the way in and could feel oil. i didnt know if it had a oil level or how to tell if it was full? i then later on did 2 more burnouts. once with a 4 people in the car and it singled and one with one person and it singled. i jacked the car up as i thought it might be a drive shaft. to find that the driveshafts were all tight and the only thing i could find was there was play in the tailshaft. it would be free to turn a little back n forth before it engaged to turn the wheels. my first question is can anyone tell me what the knocking noise is? and could it be caused from low oil? is the oil low? and is the oil being low a reason it could be singling? any help much appreciated! thanks

When filling the diff (level ground, not jacked up)fill it until it it starts to come out of the fill hole and it's full. If I were you I would drain what's in there and put decent limslip oil in and not add the friction modifier to start with unless it becomes noisy. If you do make sure you don't put too much in as a few drops to much and it will single all the time. Start with that and see if it's any better. Before you put the diff in did you take the plate off and inspect the crownwheel and pinion?

No I didn't check inside the Diff because I don't know what im looking at... I was told it was tight n didn't think I would have to worry. Oh well it's definitely low on oil then! Cause I had to put my whole finger in to reach the oil
