Power antenna has never workd in my VL Calais. The mast was snapped so the rope just comes out and hangs over the side of the car. The motor still works fine so i dont want to change to an after market module. what i want to know is. Is the module the same between VL and VN? because i can get a genuine replacement mast and rope assembly for VN to VY but cant find one for VL.

nope different. vb-vl is the same. go to autobarn or repco and get there aerpro book and look for the mast to suit under the antenna section. part number will start with AP. should be around $19 i might have a 2nd hand one here somewhere if you want me to look for it?
