Gday,
I've got a VH commodore and I want to buy some weld pro stars or weld rts wheels for it.
Can someone help me out with what stud pattern I need to get?
I understand Holden stud pattern is 5 stud, 120.00mm in size, so what's that equivalence when buying American wheels? As i'm not sure the weld wheels come in 5/120.00...
The closest they have is 5/120.65 weather that makes a difference?
Don't want to loose any studs or see my wheel falling off and beating me to the line...

120.6 is hq-wb stud pattern, that .6 might not sound like bigger all but it puts a lot of stress on the wheel nuts wen tightend, causing the wheel nuts to bend inwards which can cause them to become real weak! Not a gd thing at any speed let alone at the track doin 100+mph.

Ive heard of people drilling the holes out that little bit extra to take the stress off the studs, not sure how safe/reliable that is though

American wheels are HQ-WB / Chevrolet pattern, not Holden pattern. Anyone with American wheels like Centerline, Weld etc are bolting the incorrect pattern on to their commodores.
It's a slightly different pattern and the centre holes are larger and won't sit on the hub like standard wheels do. All of the weight is on the studs.
Lots of people do it and say 'she'll be right' but it only takes one or two studs to let go and you're in trouble. There's lots of older holdens that have come unstuck using commodore wheels.

So how can we fix this issue lads?? Drill out the stud holes slightly??

True, what stud pattern are you using on the vl of your avatar?

You could change to chev pattern.
Even if your holes are drilled out slightly the wheel won't centre on the studs properly or be supported by the centre hub. Lots of people just bolt them on anyway... Upgrade to big studs?

So what is everyone using on their VL's then?

Whats the go with changing hubs over to chev pattern? Do you use a HQ-WB hub or something?

I'm running standard studs on front, half inch studs on rear.
Now come to think of it, I got moser axles in rear and they might be chev pattern!

Almost everyone just bolts the chev pattern on anyway. It's a risk theyre willing to run.
