hey guys ive been thinking of putting my battery back to the engine bay to complete the stock setup im aiming for, has anyone done this and if so how did there do it. my battery tray was cut out so could i use a universal battery tray as i think it would be very hard to get one out of another vl without stuffing it

if not when you drill one out of the shell drill from the underside of the skirt so the holes in the doner cars body not the battery tray

ah ok kool and i guess ill just have to cut the bracket from the donor car and just maybe delete it when i fit it to my car

dont bother trying to get the bracket off a donor car, wont happen. cut the whole wheelarch section out and remove the wheelarch from the battery tray. that way you wont need to touch the tray at all and just hack the rest off with a grinder etc, so you wont even be left with drill holes in the tray

Or, if you have a wire brush for your grinder, you can brush back the paint to see the spot welds and then grind/drill em out, makes it easy to remove intact, drill holes are easy to weld up Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

pretty simple job to do, like fatpsi said just unpick one as cleanly as possible off a donor car and weld back on. Another way of doing it is instead of going from underneath drill out the spot welds from the top and when it comes to welding the tray in your car you can weld spot welds from where you drilled.
