hey all I was wondering when you've built a new motor how do you run it in. someone told me you should run vlt injectors and vlt ecu whilst running the motor in, then after putting bigger injectors and comp? is this correct? any help on running in an engine would be much appreciated
cheers
When I had my engine built. The engine builder told me to place it under load for a tank full. (eg. drive from 1st to 3rd on full throttle & 3rd to 5th on full throttle). Helps bed in your rings.
do it properly on a dyno mate. when i rebuilt my engine i didnt run it in correctly and glazed bores. had to come out again and get a rehone. big pain in the ass lol. were are u located and get my hands on a dyno for next to nothing

I had a run in tune done with only gate pressure (10psi) and the limited set to 4500-5000rpm. I had this tune for 500km, I would load it up every now and then and also vary speed and gears. Also had it bouncing off limiter in the wet a few times too. Couldn't control myself.
Just had the final tune a couple of weeks ago and motor is good and strong, no issues.
Well that's my personal opinion and experience on how to run in a fresh motor.

Drive it as normal, load it up when you can, dont sit on the same revs on long drives and just dont rev the hell out of it. After this, thrash it.

can you run say 570cc injectors and aftermarket ecu whilst running in because someone told me that i should run standard ecu and injectors whilst running in then change everything??

Don't believe everything you hear. I ran my RB30ET in with deka 610cc injectors, LINK G3, exhaust, T3 high flow & 18 psi. Still has great compression. The trick. Mid to low boost with lots of load for a couple of tank fulls . But it was easier with a manual.
(eg. jumping gears)
