hi everyone, the other day i capped off my catch can breather hole, i got the pcv valve plugged of and both lines from the manifold running to the can, the next day i started my car and it was pumping out white smoke out off the exhaust, i un capped the catch can and no difference, still smokey, so im thinking the trbo seals are stuffed, have noticed in the past a bit off oil in the cooler piping too, sorry for the long story just wondering what people are thinking? and what the cost to rebuild a t3 hi flow would be? cheers

So your engine isn't able to breathe? It needs to release the crank case pressure!

rebuild time high flow cost around 2k

So it pretty much released the crank case pressure through the turbo is what your saying yea? 2k for a rebuild?!? I might as well chuck a 35/40 in it

Had the same problem in the T3 high flow. It was the seals & bearing in the turbo. Since then no more white smoke & oil in the intercooler piping
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Its proberly just pushed the oil seals out a little bit due to the crankcase pressure.
Put everything back to the way it was an run the car for 10-15 mins an those oil seals will go back into place an the exhaust will just have to burn off the oil dumped inside it

Thanks everyone, put it back to how it was, took it for a thrash everything seemed fine, didn't miss a beat or blow smoke. Hopefully it should be ok, guess that's vls for u lol
HTURBO how much did u pay to get that done?

Thought that would be the case had a few cars at work do the same thing, The seals in the turbo are quite senitive when it comes to pressure like that

mines been blowing a little smoke for the past 2 weeks... smells like burning oil but it comes and go's
the front breather is as standard and the rear breather is going to a catch can and blocked off at the inlet.
i dont get how that can cause a problem

No not really, it's any car where you block off all breathers.

because the rear beather is an air intake at idle and an outlet when on boost. So when you're boosting the crankcase gasses just pressurize, instead of being sucked in to the engine's air intake! (the PCV valve on the intake plenum is only open when there is vacuum in the inlet manifold)

20-03-12, 14:54 GMT+10#14 Isn't a PCV (positive crank case ventiation valve) open when there's positive pressure and it's supposed to go back in to the intake and get burnt in the combustion chamber... ? Therefore it would be closed when the engine is under vacuum.
Correct me if I'm wrong

22-03-12, 23:05 GMT+10#16 my understanding is the boost pressure in the plenum forces the PCV valve shut and then the blow by is forced out of the rear breather and into the engines air intake?
