i've been having some trubles with the old auto rb30. Its starts fine and runs nice for about 20 minutes, but once it gets too about half on the temp gauge it runs real bad and almost missfires and strugles. but once it gets over 2000rpm its fine. This pretty much makes the car un-driveable. I have gotten new spark plugs, new spark leads, new dizzy, new dist cap and a air flow meter. The problem is still there though. any help would be great. -cheers.

Might be your air regulator, undo the connector and the hose clamps above and below the valve. remove and clean with throttle body cleaner. reinstall this will correct warm up running issues and influences the air flow meter so should be done before replacing the air flow meter

But i cleaned it all out and gave it a good clean. it was a tad dirty.. But the issue is still there.. ---------- Post added 14-02-12 at 19:52 ---------- g'day guys. still no progress with this issue. i have cleaned out and checked nearly all leads and plugs. it does seem a little better though. And i have noticed a sort of thud/rattle that SOUNDS like its coming from the timing belt area at the front of the bay. could this be a timing belt issue? and are they known too be fine when cold but stuffed up when hot? cheers.

Can't remember, but doesn't the CAS adjust your timing when it warms up??

I wouldn't have a clue mate, when it came too spark i pretty much have done everything exept the cas. And thats pretty much because i dont know how.. haha. I will do a search on how to fix/replace the cas and let you know how i go. Also someone suggested the coil can play up when hot, would it be worth replacing that? cheers.

Good call on the air reg. I'm having similar issues with very low idle on start up. Check your LEDs and timing is at 15 deg. Must be set when car is at operating temp n seeing that's when u start having this issue Id say it's a possibility. Also get an acl or r31 Cas if u can and try that. It may not be Cas but no use beating around the bosh (always good to have 1 spare) just my 2 cents good luck mate. Also some aftermarket leads don't fit the coil very well so feel free to change it. Fixed my misfiring 8 mil leads with original coil lead lol Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
