Not for V8 supercars. The NZ SuperTourers all feature a control engine (GMs LS7 from the ZO6 Corvette), but V8 supercar entrants must have their own V8. Quite how they will ensure parity between all the motors I'm not sure.

It's irrelevant as to what model it is... it's just a shell. They should let everyone just go nuts like back in the 80's. GTR's with the boost wound up, ford F6's, GT's, HSV's etc, would be so cool.

if so, it could very well be a branding/marketing excercise to launch the brand inti australia.....in any case, it would be nice seeing a mix of cars on the grid.

10-02-12, 20:43 GMT+10#13 What confuses me is how they expect the pushrod holden engines to keep up with the twin overhead cam VH45? Smaller intake/restrictors?

A manufacturer wanting to join the V8 Supercars Championship could even come along with their own V8 engine, used under a parity system to ensure it's on par with the current units in the class, or use a 'category' engine if they wish to go with already-established technology.
As far as iv seen & heard it looks like its gunna be the skyline shell used by Nissan, unsure of engine package at this time tho

11-02-12, 11:27 GMT+10#17 Engines will be parity matched.. so will basically make the same peak HP and torque across the board.

11-02-12, 11:38 GMT+10#18 Would be good if it was like; max rpm, max number of cylinders, max displacment, otherwise go nuts!
Kinda like F1, except without the rulebook that weighs 50kg
