just stay away from electrical components (dizzy, fuse box, plugs etc) if you can use compressed air and a blower to blow water from electrical connections, around plugs, injectors etc.

the way i do it even to my vl's and carby v8's is with the engine off, spray the degreaser everywhere you want it cleaned. obviously the less on the cables the better, what your aiming for is cleaing the grime and grease off the block, intake, exhaust, sides of the engine bay and mainly the chassis rails as the oil leaks all seem to build up there. so spray away and give a scrub on some of the heavier greased areas with a scraper or a dish scrubber. Let it sit for about 4 to 5 minutes and get the pressure washer out. Start your engine, and after about 30 seconds get the pressure washer and just wash everywhere, that you've degreased. you want the motor running because it heats up and allows the water to evaporate quicker than if you were to have the motor off. once your done let it run for about 5 to 10 mins. completely dry and your done.
