This may be the stupid queston. i hate ford's!! as a normel holden fan would, but yesterday i drove a auto fg xr6 turbo ute, the power was amazing!! woudent want anything more from a car. i have a auto non turbo vl. i have never been in or driven a vl turbo. power wise how diffrent are they? and how much would it take to convert my n/a vl to pull as hard?

If you're comparing factory standard cars, then ofcourse the ford will be much quicker. That being said, i think you hit the nail on the head with your opening sentence.

Pretty much a standard'ish Vlt setup with high flow, cooler, more boost and a tidy up tune?

If you're looking at converting your NA I reckon you're better off buying a VL Turbo then work from there.

just buy an XR6T, it'll be cheaper in the long run, safer and cost less to insure as well BA's are under 10K and even the FG's aren't expensive and are great cars

If the FG interests You and You can afford one BUY ONE. Do not even consider a VL next to an FG, even if You cant afford the FG, a BF is still heaps nicer than a VL. VL's are uncomfortable old POS that are only good if they are very tidy and you dont have to drive them daily!
