Got a mates vl here and it wont start. I took off the fuel lines and noticed it was getting fuel but was not constant (allot of air), so i changed the external pump and it had more pressure but still no constant fuel. Im thinking intank pump?
Also i noticed when the fuel line is connected it spits out a little bit of fuel from the rail, ( no blocked rail ) im guessing this also should be flowing, hence the intank pump im thinking, however when i put the fuel reg back on NOTHING comes out the bottom of the reg. Is that due no lack of pressure/fuel in the fuel line ( intank pump ) or something else as well? Mind you i have tried 3 different fuel regs lol.

wont be a fuel reg man thats after the rail anyway, should pissout constant fuel like a tap no air, id check the intank pump but b4 you rip it out check the fuel filter, ppl always overlook that haha

thanks buddy. yeah im changing the filter tomoz and then the intank pump. I know the problem is not the fuel reg however the little fuel im getting into the line shouldnt that also be coming out the reg at some point?

the reg is after the rail, it basicly closes the fuel return line so that theres fuel pressure in the rail when you put your foot down. so yeah the fuel will come out of the reg but only to go back to the tank. its funny that it wont start at all tho... it should spit and sputter you know make some half ass attempt to start with the little fuel it has haha. if your sure its fuel id check for an injector pulse just to make sure its getting there. ne way let us know how it goes bro.

mmm yeah you have a point there, its also on gas and dosent start on that either. I was told that it wont start on gas as the fuel needs to prime it. He brought it to me saying he was told its a fuel pump problem and if i can fix it. the more i think about it i should probably go over the whole thing for him. Ill lyk what happens tomoz.
cheers

Certainly sounds like it's starving for fuel. The reg will only pass fuel through if the pressure on the rail side is above 38 or so PSI........The reg controls pressure not the pump.
As above, intank pump is stuffed/blocked or the filter is blocked.

Yeah cool changed the intake and it now has constant fuel and it is realeasing out the reg. however still not starting. I'll have to start again on the diagnosing now. Car was driven on gas everyday, Maybe injectors ?

06-02-12, 18:15 GMT+10#12 ok well some news, after letting it sit overnight when i got home today i thought id try start it before i tinker on it and guess what? it started first go and was idling like a dream, however, after letting it idle for around a minute, it died. Instantly. no struggles or burps or missis just dead. Now she wont start, she tried a little, but now just cranking.
Whats peoples thoughts now? CAS? i did look at the rev needle and it wasnt moving around like it normally does when a CAS sh!ts itself, but who knows? Ive already tried a different ecu as well.
