Chrysler could be joining Holden and Ford on the 2013 V8 Supercar grid after team boss Garry Rogers confirmed he's in talks with the American manufacturer.
Rogers, who currently runs two Holden Commodores in the championship through his Fujitsu Racing outfit, says he's negotiating with Chrysler to race its new 300c sedan from next year.
"We have had discussions with Chrysler," Rogers told the V8X Magazine website.

"They seem to have done their homework on the category and us and their knowledge is good.
"We have had another discussion in the last week and that was quite productive.
"We haven't got anything up yet but I am hoping we can."
The news comes after an earlier report this month revealing Chrysler's interest in the championship.
The president and chief executive of Chrysler's street and race technology (SRT) arm Ralph Gilles said at the Detroit Auto Show that the V8 Supercars events are on the company's radar ahead of the next generation 300c's launch in Australia in June.
Rogers has run Holden cars since debuting in the championship in 1996 but could be the first of several team owners to court new manufacturers ahead of V8's new 'Car of the Future' technical regulations, which come into force in 2013.
The championship hopes those regulations will entice new manufacturers to the category, potentially injecting new revenue streams to teams and offering a more competitive field.
Rogers is also set to reveal who will replace Lee Holdsworth to partner Michael Caruso at the team in 2012, confirming the new pilot will be named at a function on February 10.
Holdsworth left the team at the end of 2011 to replace Alex Davison in the Stone Brothers Racing Irwin Tools Falcon for the next three years.

It will be for when they start the common chassis that is going to be introduced.
It will be the 300c body on the same chassis as the holdens and fords.

Hopefully it makes it interesting like when they had a heap of manufacturers in the 60's-80's.

Think interesting more along the lines of NASCAR, same chassis, different bodyshell. I cant see a 300c being as aerodynamic as an fg falcon or ve commodore though??

They will make up for it with being able to reduce weight or something along those lines.
They currently work out drag coefficient etc to make sure one doesn't have an advantage over the other.
I remember tasman motorsport put some plates over their fuel pumps that were mounted underneath and they were told to remove them because it 'may' give them an advantage with aerodynamics.
The only thing that will set one car apart form another will be HP, setup and driver.

It will be good to see a few new cars out there, the German DTM cars all share a common chassis now, they have got the formula right though, they just look amazing aswell

Boring! I want some differences between the cars (like PROGMH said). It'd be nice to have similar racing to the 60s and 70s where the cars were more so "street cars" than full house "race cars" (That won't happen but you get where i'm going with this)
as above, bring on DTM cars or maybe even a GTR Mix it up abit and make it exciting/varied

30-01-12, 20:59 GMT+10#12 Its too expensive to achieve those kinds of speed with random cars and manufacturers.. Common chassi/engine combo shared development and close racing.
People remember Group A through rose coloured glasses sometimes.. I mean sometimes it was Skyline/Sierra First daylight second.
Look at the time attack cars.. they are quicker around Eastern Creek on semi slicks, but they have had more money thrown at them, weigh less and make more power.
I think a supported production series with the V8Supercars would be a good thing. Each team must field a car available to be purchased in Aus. Have the usual classes etc

Bahahaha, so true.
DTM are common chassis, but fairly different body shapes, common aero parts, its a good mix, its the same, but it looks different, Ill be pissed if car of the future look the same as each other except for the badge, the shapes now are to similar, they are stuff all the same as the road going versions, they are shorter and wider so they are the same measurements.
Sports sedans as a support category would rock, but that wont happen as they are faster than the supercars
