Need some opinions guys, getting a 6point fully welded in in the next cpl weeks and I'm torn between ripping off my tint and putting venetians in or not having nothing and showing the cage, my tint is 5% so it's black as, ripping off rear window tint means no tint on any of the windows.
1: tint, venetians, roll cage
2: venetians, roll cage
3: tint, roll cage
4: just cage!
i decided to just go cage because of where i ran my rear stays. would have been a prick to put the rear window in because the venetians would have had to go in first.
Hmm my only thing is I wanna be able to street mine untill it gets yellowed so don't want the cage in plain view! So many choices and it sux cos i need to make a choice ASAP, crapy thing is the tint is immac and not discoloured or peeling so would hate to pull it off :-(

On the money there!!!!
yeh keep the tint an put in the venetions for a start. your guna get pumped if they see the bars in clear view.
If your so worried about getting done by the cage, go a 4 point and get it engineered, then drop your rear seat back in (will be illegal with the seat in but least u got some form of paperwork and stupid cops will prob shun it off lol)
Car looks good in the top pic btw lol
A lot of the stuff iv done to the car is "unroadworthy" in the cops eyes, I'm not so much worried il get done its just a matter of when haha, yer think il keep the tint but jut get it redone a little lighter as its basically limo tint as it is now!
Ypur cage bloke should know already, but I have seen some shabby, shabby sh1t out there. Im not even happy with the basics of mine to be honest. Keep the cage as tight as possible to the pillar's,
a: it will help hide the cage as much as possible
b: it gives you a lot more space between you and some solid sh1t should you unfortunately ever need to rely on the cage
c: if you do roll it over it will help save the roof line, not if your doing warp speed, but a lower speed roll over and all you need to do is swap hanging panels, kick the roof straight and a bit of filler, she's brand new.
I like window tint, i think it has a place on cars. Personally I would make sure the fella does a tight fit, then leave the tint on the windows, when they put the top bar across the windscreen in, again, tight to the roof line and its harder to see.

The guy thats finishing my car is a drag bike builder and also races his own nitrous bike so knows his stuff wen it comes to welding, also he is a andra tech inspector so I'm sure he'll do a killa job on the car, have no doubt in my mind!

U can run a 4 point but has to be engineered, also car has to be registered as a 2 seater! 6 points are a no no on the street, not in WA anyways.

yeah much much safer.
the general consensus is
1: solid things in the cabin that could hit heads (like a crumpled in roof isnt closer to your face)
2: the car wont crumple properly, effectively "punching" you through any other cars you hit (not true, since the crumple zones are supposed to be NOT where you are sitting...
its complete BS, most new cars effectively have a basic 6 point design in the body work, obviously without the angled interior bracing, but still! lots of new high performance super cars have fully integrated roll-cage spec carbon monocogue (or however its spelled).
would love to know how come Queensland gets it so different, and how we could convince our services to adopt the same ideas, that safety is improved! im sure given strict enough guidelines (QLD spec) and very strict engineering and inspection guidelines we would all be more than happy to comply. i for one am 50% scared of imminent death just from being hit by some other muppet when driving normally, and 50% scared of death when driving... abnormaly
/Rant
Put a 4 point in my vn fully welded not running a taxi bar which means I can legally have a back seat cage needs to be fully padded and a certain distance from the drivers head from memory it's a 100mm I put as close to the pillars as possible without interfering with the seat belts or sliding the seats back the rear bars that go in the boot are as close to the rear window as possible so I can't put venetians in but I wasnt planning to anyway
I was thinking about a 6 point but it's not going to be a full race car so a 4 point will satisfy track needs Thats what u have to ask yourself is the car going to be a street car that hits the track or a full blown race car 6 point requires intrusions also
At the end if the day it's your choice I would go for a four point less hassles with police and whatever you do chuck a light tint on the windows will look the goods that's for sure.
Good luck man cars looking mad keep up the good work
in qld a 6 point cage is accepted. the bars have to be minimum 50 mm dia with a 1.6mm wall thickness 75% welded. b pillar cross brace/ seat belt mount has to have a 10 mm hole in the bottom and a 14 mm hole in the top to place a sleeve in for the seat belt mounts to stop crumpling under impact. the cage must join the floor via a 100x100x10mm plate either side of the floor with at least 4 10mm bolts its alot to follow but with all that you can get it blue plated and thats all that matters right?
