Hi guys, a few days ago my bonnet release cable snapped. I managed to use the remaining piece of cable still connected to the spring to open the bonnet and leave it semi-closed. Eventually i took the cable out of the latch hoping i could pull it all through, but no i had no such luck of getting the latch and the rest out and seems stuck. I know its meant to be slid forward then it should pop out but that doesnt work for me and to make it worse, i closed the bonnet by accident on a frustrating day. I've been told to use a flat head underneath where the spring is and try to pry it out but that doesnt seem to work either, any tips or help ? im at a standstill and nothing can be done to my baby until this is fixed Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

It can be a pain... Do you have all the aircond still in the car? ie. condenser and fan in front of the radiator? you have to take the grill out to get to the lock also. where abouts in Sydney are you?

Grill is out, and yeah the condenser and thermo are still on. i cant really take them off with the bonnet not open though, it will be just as tricky. and im in west suburbs

Dam hey yeah with the condenser and fan on you can only really try to release the spring. Its hard to explain its easier just to feel around and do it. The spring can be unhooked by trying to locate the tab underneath and pushing it forward for it to pop out and unhook. Have a bit more of a play around and if you really get stuck I may be able to come out and get it open for you if you like. or ask a Panel Beater that knows old Commodores.

i had the same problem last week, i got a pretty long flat head screw driver and felt around where cable is/was and pulled the lug were the end of the cable was towards the drivers side of the car. and once it was popped try a bit of coat hanger with a loop on it to hang behind your grill. i hope this was some help.
