hay guys, im after a bit of advice, my car is getting painted now an im not sure wat i should do about my motor build...
if u guys could give me some advice, right
im chasing 300rwkw wit standard rods an forged pistons etc, can someone put me onto a good builder an if i can find 1 local is it a good idea to take the motor out or take the whole car to the builder???
thanks guys any ideas would b great
stock rods will let go around the same point as stock pistons, why change one not the other.
all or nothing, and nothing will take 300kw.
but take the motor too the builder, much cheaper.
dude, just get the car going, does your standard engine run ?
buy all the stuff, inlet manifold turbo etc, get your auto and diff sorted, then when and if you get over the 250kw mark wiht you standard engine, then get a bottom end built while u still have your car running

no i'm saying, get it all running get it tuned!
get all the bolt ons sorted, get your drive line sorted!
once it's all running get it tuned! to a safe 250rwkw
once all the issues ironed out, and 250 doesn't scare u anymore, build your head and bottom end, and then one weekend change it all!
you might find u never need to build that bottom end cause 250rwkw will scare the **** out of u

In my experience when people tell me they have always been the test dummy and not the pilot of a quick car it begins to ring alarm bells as they honestly don't know its one in the car and the other behind the wheel.
I'd honestly build the car to be capable of higher power but run her a little lower just to be safe and on the safe side.
Your last point is very true mate, i remember my first time haha but the problem with power is the more you get the more you want.
that's what i'm getting at, but from the many years being on this sight, people put all there money into the engine, forget about the box and diff (if 25 spline not that this is always an issue, / LSD in it) and then the engine makes more power than what the rest can handle, then they never get the performance they could have gotten (spent a **** load of money) if they had upgraded there auto/clutch to a decent one that didn't matter what the engine put out, or a lsd (never had one always had a spool joys of darwin) which actually put the power down, like my link says, i've got a 11.6 out of a stock engine, with bolt on's diff and brakes upgraded and Full Kea's auto 4 speed!
depends what your budget is, if you've got 20k to spend on you engine bolton's gearbox and diff, yes get it all done at once, and even then you'll just manage to put it all together, that is if you do alot of the work yourself! if your paying someone that will not go far for all the stuff required for a reliable 300kw plus rb setup
