i have an na vl, and i turned it off in my garage one day and the next it wouldnt start, it was firing out the airbox on gas and not showing any signs of life on petrol. checked the igntiion timing and it was out so i put it back to 0 degrees and now it trys to start but still doesnt run. still fires out the airbox but nowhere near as loud and not as often. could my cam have jumped a couple notches? how do i check this? it has spark to all cylinders, has injector pulse, has fuel, been trying for a while to get it started. thanks for any help in advance.

Maybe AFM. Timing should be set at 15 degree's.

Yeah, they can run but you'll drop a few hundred rpm. Also with a faulty AFM it will backfire out of the airbox. If you had jumped a tooth in your timing belt you would'nt be able to set the timing. It would be way out. Tell you what. Disconnect the AFM & try to start the engine. If you notice no changes in engine characteristics you might have a faulty AFM. But if you notice a change in the engine characteristics whilst the AFM is disconnected it would usually mean/suggest it's working. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

^^^ Not necessarily 100% true on that last one, close though. With a faulty AFM it can run really really poorly and once you disconnect the AFM it will go into limp mode and just idle really rich around 1-1200rpm. If it run's a lot better with AFM disconnected I would be pointing at that.

checked ya plugs n leads? also if its running a bit rough and youve got the timing right and the rest try taking out the o2 sensor n giving it a clean with degreaser. mine was running like crap n everything was set right, cleaned the o2 sensor n its ran fine ever since.

take a plug out see if it sparks when you crank, take take the line off to the rail see if theres fuel. if so then you should have something.... computer id say is ****ed got water on it or something. even if the timing is out it should backfire or make some kind of half assed attempt to start lol, check for any coroded **** on the o2 sensor, ignitor ect.
