g'day
im thinking about putting airbags in the rear of my wagon and im consideing also going a wats linkage to keep it all in the center.
has anyone done this? any info?
i have an aloy diff cover atm
could i weld a stud onto that as the pivot point?
any other useful info?
cheers
Be intersted to see how feasable this is toodo. My SRi-V has one, and it makes a lead of difference into tight corners compared to the normal Cruze. Seems to work pretty well for the Supercars too. Would love one to help me round the track a bit better in the VL.
Run the pivot point off the chassis, make up a frame for it to mount between the rails. The run the arms to the diff tubes. Would be a piss easy job for a half decent fabricator.
if you use a ford diff hat they allready have the mount on them
i guess you could modify the arms from the fords too and use their mounting brackets re welded into your car? might work
forgot about this thread compleatly lol.
im still interested in doing it. i know a couple of people that could fab it all up for me - just a matter of them having the time to do it :/

im also really interested in doing this, either now or very soon. dont you need two pivot points? one at the top and one at the bottom of the hat? you can use the top panhard rod mount for one side on the car, but then you need another one lower down for the other one...
i was only thinking about putting airbags in the rear of my wagon last night but figured it would be pretty pricey to get it engineered and i don't know of any airbagged vl wagons and have never had any experience with airbag suspension so wouldn't know where to begin.
yeah if i did it i would get a pivot point welded onto the diff cover and make up a bit of 200mm or so bar to pivot off it, then run one link to where the panhard rod mounts and the other up to the chasis rail on the rhs. would probably make both sides adjustable aswell so i can get it perfect aswell.
thinking about it now it realy wouldnt be that hard.
if anyone doest know how one works here is a dodgy pic i drew in paint because im bored at work
looking at the diff housing from the back (the black rectangle)
the idea of it is that as the diff moves up and down it is held in the center all the time as opposed to a panhard rod that pushes the diff to the right as the diff moves up ( or the body moves down) and is then pulled to the left as the body rises
I was going to do it to my sedan, have a mate with a performance workshop down here in vic who does it for rx7's and makes a massive difference (for cuircut cars). He was going to lenghten is ajustable arms he makes for the rx7's to suit. You can also use an au diff cover from memory, not as strong as the aftermarket ones but cheaper
to have a watts linkage work properly, you need the pivot point to be on a point off the chassis and the bars off the diff housing
good kits

thoes kits look prety good. just emailed the company to find out how much they are.
is there any advantage in a wats linkage over a panhard rod for drag racing or only for circuit?
cheers

Thanks for your enquiry.
The Watt's link kits are priced at $995.00.
They do require welding installation.
Watt's links are better than Panhard rods. They keep the car running
straighter and more stable.
