I'm running an e6x on my vl turbo and it was running perfectly yesterday morning, untill i gave her some new oil and a new oil filter. Also went from mineral oils to fully synthetic recommended by my tuner. Old oil Penrite HRP 20-60 mineral New oil Castrol Edge 10-60 titanium fully synthetic The problem is the oil filter i put on was defective, and all the oil spilt out a few moments after firing her up, i noticed strait away and turned her off but she still lost a good 3 liters in 10 seconds. I was reimbursed for both items today and went about fitting and draining and refilling the oil again. Started her up and she sounded very happy with her new oil, idles perfect everything. But now when i go to boost, she just wont go anywhere, just starts back firing. So the question is, would oil cause this? or is it something else such as the CAS? it ate one of them while we where tuning it, then we replaced it and she seemed to be going fine, it still starts fine when warm. ---------- Post added 29-12-11 at 13:30 ---------- and its not the AFM cause im running an after market computer ---------- Post added 29-12-11 at 13:35 ---------- I also Refreshed my K&N air filter the same day, followed the instructions, cleaned it, let it dry, re applied the red oil to it, left to sit for 20min and reinstalled.

could it be your filter not allowing enough air flow on boost

your filter might of sucked the filter oil in and be messing about with it. my car used to run crap after i recharged the filter

True, what can i do then? just air compressor it? My brothers did his at the same time, i defiantly didn't put as much oil on his though and his is fine. Had a loook at my dizzy cap and rotor arm, looked like something broke in there and bounced around for a while, not sure if that had anything to do with it. Have to wait for a new cap to arrive tommorow, see if that changes anything. Otherwise my CAS apparently has a 2 year warranty. Fuel Miester CAS it is, from Repco. ---------- Post added 29-12-11 at 19:14 ---------- What causes a back fire exactly in a Vl turbo? Too much fuel? Not enough?

Not enough spark, wrong timing generally.

But it was PERFECT yesterday, and i mean PERFECT. Just gliding along like a big yellow angry bird, now its like that Rhino from Jumanji (one thats always behind the stampede) just spluttering along. So i doubt the Timing just went out for no apparent reason? Has an ICE Ignition Coil

Go over the things you touched or might of bumped... it has to have been something you have done or its a VL and its temperamental and probably thrown a CAS.

It sounds ;like its misfiring did you wash the engine after the oil went everywhere if soo you might have water in the plug holes just a thought

Nah zooming all the oil went strait to the ground, didnt touch anything with any water. I'm thinking it could be the K&N Air Filter as i did oil the **** out of it. So I'm going to air compress it tommorow and see what happens. But Once again, what causes a vl turbo to back fire? I know miss firing is from too much fuel, but this is popping along and then a bang (back fire) when trying to boost.

Just had a new 044 installed last week when she was retuned. And like i said it was running like a dream untill yesterday afternoon. ---------- Post added 30-12-11 at 01:17 ---------- The internal was replaced last eyar, but only with an N/A one, is this a possible culprit? Fuel tank is at 75% levels according to the gauge, which means gravity should supply the necessary pressure to the 044? Right?

check the plugs? if it idles perfectly, but only plays up under boost - i'd double check the plugs.

Im going with plugs or leads could be breaking down under load. if it was cas it wouldnt idle properly or start for that matter

Not enough fuel under boost maybe?? im no mechanic but if its doing what he said its doing and dieing in the asss when it boosts i would say fuel related

Guess ill find out what plugs the tuners put in and put in a fresh set. Gonna go home and try cleaning the k&n and get me new dizzy cap and rotor arm goimg, see how that goes.

does it make boost, or just hits 0 and starts spluttering? If so could be as simple as u bumped a cooler pipe off or a silicone join split, etc..

Just changed the plugs, dizzy cap and rotor arm, and replaced the K&N with a repco one to rule that out and she idles healthy now, but she still doesnt like boosting. I've looked over the cooler piping and it looks fine, cant hurt to look again i guess. Wasnt looking at the boost gauge as i was tripping out it was still tripping balls after sounding so healthy idling. The old plugs where pretty fouled, but i assume thats cause she was starving for air cause of the blocked up K&N. ---------- Post added 30-12-11 at 15:16 ---------- Just took her for another drive, and she sits on 0psi, and starts spluttering then the boost will shoot up to 5psi for 1/4 of a second then go back to 0. The car doesnt actully boost though, just splutters along. ---------- Post added 30-12-11 at 15:18 ---------- When she is in drive on idle, i think its sitting on -15psi, is this the correct range? Had another good look over the cooler piping and it all looks 100% ---------- Post added 30-12-11 at 17:45 ---------- some times it wont rev past 2000, other times it will jump around n hit 3500 but wont go any higher then that. The whole time its hesitating and spluttering while trying to boost. ---------- Post added 30-12-11 at 17:48 ---------- got my brother to stand outside the car while i backfired up the street, he recons there was a tiny bit of white smoke coming out the rear as it was spluttering no more then a "basketball" sized cloud of smoke

Actuator stuck and keeping the waste gate open? Whats a good way to check if the actuator is playing up? She'll be going to the shops on tuesday to get it sorted, but i would lie a few suggestions happy new years also to everybody out there Be safe Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
