vl n/a auto box problem need help

hi my n/a 1986 vl autobox when cold takes a while to select drive you need to revs it in drive for a bit to select drive then it is fine and it will drive fine it will even select reverse fine when cold but only hard to select drive when the car is cold have had transmission serviced but made no difference can anyone help me with the problem please
