Hey guys, I'm sure its been covered before, but I don't have time to search through 103 pages of this section.
I bought a turbo motor and mx7 box, which I'm told pops out of 5th until it warms up, then stays in 5th....any ideas??

Change oil and put castrol syntrans in it, or Royal Purple, stay the hell away from red line at all costs. Failing that its a rebuild if it doesnt sh1t you too much. Personally I wouldnt bother with the rebuild, its only 5th.

I run Castrol transmax Z in mine but Syntrans is probably cheaper and just as good. Jason pretty much summed it up for ya there. If an oil change doesn't fix it and it bothers You, You're up for a rebuild.

Thanx heaps fellas, Jase I take it you mean literally stay off the redline, and not in reference to the redline gearbox oil?

No, he's referring to Redline gearbox oil. Lots of bad reports about it re: MX7/RB boxes.

Very much sounds like an oiling issue seeing as it warms up and then stays in gear.
