thinking of putting 20" ve gts wheels on the vl, seen a few cars with them, just wondering what i gotta do to fit them under the gaurds, profile size ect? I've played round to make my 19's fit, but i want bigger now

Depends on your suspension setup, but as a general rule yes you should be able to make them fit with some basic guard rolling, bumper trimming, a well setup panhard rod and the correct tyres. Something like 225/30R20 fronts and 255/30R20 rears would be what I'd go for. I know it's been done with bigger tyres, but that would most likely require coilovers and more rear guard work
Oh and of course being VE rims you'll need the centres machined to fit VL hubs
P.S my post was directed at genuine HSV rims, if you're talking copies then I can't help much

Even with 275 tyres it is possible to make them fit, look at 88 chasers build thread, but as suggested if going 9.5" rears I'd be fitting 255's. They look phat as when they're on a VL

What are you basing that on? I know of a few VLs with 20x9.5 genuine GTS rims on the rear

88chasers VL with genuine GTS 20x9.5 and factory VE 275/30R20s on the rear...

Do you plan on going low in the rear? if so you will not be able to get very far with 20x9.5's

23-12-11, 18:58 GMT+10#10 Thats with a chopped super low, they can sit pretty low, but its a super tight fit, like grinding the seatbelt mounting bracket right back. If I do another street vl it woill definetly have those wheels on it, but Ill pump the guards a bit before the paint work. 255's would be a really good fit. Standard diff and just very precise panhard bar adjustment.
How tough did it look back then, I miss it as a street car.
