Hi just curious does the oil pressure sender for an oil pressure gauge need to be at any particular angle placed on the block. I ask this because I'm using an oil filter sandwich plate which has three ports on it, now if i use a bottom port meaning the sender will be upside down which means the sender hole will always have oil on top it, will it mean a false reading? Or will the actual pressure compensate this? Hope that makes sense, cheers

the pressure will compensate it i believe i use a sandwich plate also and mine sits upside with no problem

can you not just use the hole in the block were the standard oil pressure sender unit goes?

The sender may last longer if its on top as it will drain when engine is stopped. probably last 40 years instead of 20 for instance. It's really not relevant. It will/should read the same if the ports are interconnected and are matched in size to the gauge, else it may just take a few seconds longer to get the same reading if the hole is too small in the 'sandwich plate' or may even cake up over time.

Thought id throw in a blonde question, If using an electric gauge, say one of those Drift black face ones, can i just use the existing wire from my pressure sensor (under the filter) and splice that for a signal?

it might not work if you don't use the correct sensor with it. the VL oil pressure sensers are fairly basic and only display a small range of pressure, something like on- for pressure over 10-20psi and off for anything under. They have only one wire which really dictates a switch to earth for pressure measurement. you'll notice that when you disconnect it, your OEM gauge will hit full scale deflection and sometimes burn itself out after a while. It cooks a resistor in the back of the dash panel. Best use the sensor that came with the gauge.
