Hi Guys, Need help with my distrubutor, l need to know what my tuner has done. He has turned my distrubutor all the way down = clockwise, l noticed my car is running very sluggish NOW. Has he retarted the timing or advanced it? I thought turning the distrubutor all the way down clockwise meant we are retarding the timing? any help would be great. p.s To advance the cam timing would it means the cam has to be turned counter clockwise? l turned my cam l tooth clockwise could that mean why my car is very sluggish on take off? thanks in advance.

Yes could mean y your tuner has turned dizzy all the may down because the cam timing is one tooth out and he is chasing it

so what position is my distrubutor in retard or advance? ---------- Post added 09-11-11 at 21:36 ---------- which means l basically have retarted my cam timing by putting 1 tooth facing clockwise? if thats the case shouldn't my tuner have put the distrubutor in advance position instead of retard to compensate for what l did? in both cases we both have retarted the cam timing and he went ahead and retareded the ignition timing? could this be why my car is very sluggish on take off?

don't mess with it.. let your tuner fix it thats how i popped my engine... by stuffing around with the dizzy and timing when i wasn't 100%... please just leave it and don't drive it

Mate wtf are you doing. chainging the cam timing will change where it peaks. throwing it 1 tooth out could mean a valve hits the piston. if you wanna know how retarded your wngine is throw a timing light on it. and in advance dont play with sht you dont know about. theure called tuners for a reason they know what theyre doing.

Yea retared all the way witch is funny if he said he put timing in it no wonder its gutless he needs to start from scratch get cam timing right then get timing light on it and go from there

Why did you advance the cam timing one tooth? If the cam timing is out, you can't get your base ignition timing right because the distributor is driven by the cam..

O and i just thort it mite have timing in but because the cam timing is out it mite need to go full retard to get it somewhere near where it needs to be but the tuner should of work out the cam timing is out buy that
