Hey all, Today i Put my car into the burnout day at Avalon, burnout went well but the Gearbox not so well. Iv got a T56 in my Clubbie and now its making noises, comming off the burnout pad never was making any noise what so eva, took it to the pits to let cool down and went to go again only to find the noise. Drove it home very very friggin easy and it sounded like it had no oil in it, and crunched into 4th neva did that, box still fills good but only makes the noise when im in neutral with clutch in or out it dont matter, but I put the clutch in put in 1st and noise goes, but as soon as i let clutch out and start to move the box is making that noise again. From the burnout I neva went to 2nd or any other gear I kept it in 1st. my guess is the oil has gotton too hop thinned out too much causing it to start making this noise, maybe even ****ing up my gearbox. I checked the oil when i got home and no **** it was like water and smelt like power steering fluid, i was told to put dextron III in it and also say's on the side of the gearbox but Power steering fluid isnt that way to thin? iv thought about putting Nulon 80-90 in it. Any help would be good. Cheers.

The oil in them is automatic transmission fluid, as some of the parts in the gearbox are incompatible with normal gear oils. Penrite make a gear oil that is suitable for the T56, in some case it will really help the box especially if they are abused. You will however need to flush the box a few times to get all the old crap out of it. Mainlube also make a solid ep boundary gear oil that works. However it is about $300ish dollars to fill the box. Your choice, however i can't stress you will need to flush the box multiple times to clear out the old crap.
