running superlows with 235 40 18 on monaro cv8r copy rims. Scrubs front and rear but im more worried about the front as my left hand side guard is already buckled from previously having low suspension. Im thinking 225 40 should clear it or should i just get 5mm raisers?

Yeah you would be better off with 225/40R18 on the front. The front tyres will probably still catch from time to time though, so you should at least fold up the parts where the inner guard screws to the lip. The easiest way to do that is leave your car out in the hot sun for an hour or so then hold the guard and pull with your fingers. It's surprising how much extra room you can get by just going around the lip and folding it up and pulling it out And if you haven't already rolled the rear lips you should do. It's not hard to do yourself with a heat gun and rubber hammer, but not as quick and easy as the fronts
