Ok so the new motor's going in my VL pretty soon, and i'm gonna be revving it to around 7500 rpm, now the question i wanna know is.. Will the stock tacho still be accurate if i was to remove the stopper and somehow re-print the lines using photoshop or something and stuck it onto the dash face up to 8000rpm? I understand im gonna get "oh just get a monster tach, or get an autometre setup" But really, they look good, but only when the whole dash is done.. And i don't have the cash to go out and spend $1000 on gauges. I could put a second tacho in, but that makes the car look sh!t and i dont like to look of an aftermarket tacho in the stock dash either.. Cheers

If your going to be reving that high clearly the car will be on a dyno, have an ECU with laptop or hand controller.. make out where each 100-500 RPM maker is and add some more and reprint, There is a guy on here that was making replacement ones that reved higher im sure of it.

Yeh i realised that it woudnt be easy... But im not goin stupid microcrap ecu, im goin nistune. But thays not to point at hand, and i dont wanna hear people telling me not to go nistune blah blah blah! Anyway, boosted wagon: when you say you gotta mod the tacho, what exactly do you have to modify? Like if i bought a second hand cluster would anyone be able to do a tech write up? Or would you have amy info? Would be much appreciated Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Isn't there a mob on Ebay that you send your dash to that can re-jig the cluster to more revs and also more speed? Think it was like 250 or so to do that with a custom print set like is showen above. ---------- Post added 02-11-11 at 16:39 ---------- Just ahd a Quick look and found the mob. Cruizin Central. From what i can see, the work you want done is 264, but that wont include your postage to them.
