My clutch is on the way out again, and i really want to make sure i purchase a clutch that is rated to my HP and will be ok to be daily driven.
Are there any brands that i should stay away from or can anyone recommend a good place to do clutches??
I've got a rb25 with 290rwhp and i purchased a cushion button exedy clutch a year and half ago (if that) and its already slipping, i don't do burnouts and i daily my car and drive it reasonably hard.
I was thinking jim berry, or single/double plate clutches or a brass button, but am unsure about using them for a daily, heavy clutch pedal etc
Any comments, price ranges or recommendation would be greatly appreciated!

i spoke to jim berry but decided not to go with him. i couldnt justify the price. everyone rates him though. if you have the "right" clutch he can rebuild it for reasonable prices. just call him up he's actually really nice to talk to.
i ended up going with a xtreme motorsport hd single plate, retails around $1200. rated to like 300 or so rwkw. i dont like pulling out my gearbox so i wanted it to last. its reasonably heavy on the foot but not too much worse than the excedy 5 puck i had before it. from memmory you can get an xtreme hd puck clutch for like $650 thats meant to be really good for the street? cant remember much about it though.
my mate has a xtreme carbon clutch in his gtr, was really light pedal feel and very strong, lots of good reviews but pretty exxy.
you could always do the hell dodgy manuever and get one of those american clutches off ebay for like 200 bucks. i actually read some alright reviews about them but i personally wouldnt want to risk it on my own car.
thats all i remember about my clutch research experience.

have a chat to NPC clutches in queensland alot cheaper than jim berry and they make custom ones to suit. when i do my clutch change i will be going with them for sure. i thtink it was 650 delivered. i asked them for a clutch to handle 300rwkw and can be street driven nicely

xtreme motorsport is the one I'd go for with that power - rated up to 380rwkw actually.
$999 plus post from a sponsor on SAU forums, but Arie @ Autopro Bentley might get similar prices, he's gotta order from over east anyways so see how much total price with postage costs you through the SAU guy compared to Arie ordering one in.

22-10-11, 21:22 GMT+10#12 my twin plate is heavy and noisey. however has taken many limiter dumps successful and not, and much abuse.
its a "direct" twin plate, good for the $$
if i had my time again i would probably pick the berry, no real reason why, but well see how this goes direct goes with some 2 step and or race fuel launches.
no complaints yet, but **** driving with it in peak hour...

how much did you get quoted for? You could have had a super monty for 1450$, and it would handle at least 3x more than the 300kw one you got for 1200 (jim doest rate clutches to a power figure as he doesnt think its the right way to rate them). He told me the super monty is what he's building for temper now, and has held in cars over 1200hp, and yeah he is awesomely nice to talk to

23-10-11, 09:13 GMT+10#14 i cant remember how much it cost to be totally honest, i think it was around 1300-1400, and would take a little while to build. i wanted the car back on the road pronto, as at the time it was my daily. i wasn't rolling in cash at the time either, it all went on my credit card so the xtreme seemed like a good option and i never regretted it.
