my motor is about to start goin together its got forged rods and pistons and i'll be chasing about 450hp at the wheels anyways i need to find a suitable oil pump the machine shop has already fitted a crank collar so the oil pump will need to work with the wider crank collar im not to keen on an N1 pump as iv heard some bad reports on those what other pumps are out there?

I heard GTR's are fine. But I've also heard with the N1's you'll need to change your oil collets.

yeah dont you need to fit some restrictors to the block with the N1?

It is advisable to fit restrictors but not a must. Really depends on your application, as in how hi u wana rev it and how long u wana hold it there

n1 pump is crap get a nitto they have to much oil pressure, but also in saying that you can take the center spring out to lower the pressure from 120 to 75 psi / same as a nitto just dont over rev it or the thing will snap gears l broke 1 with 508rwhp cost me another rebuild and putting resticters in will make it worse but as rbfrog said a gtr pump with slight mods inside will do the job just fine

I agree with Pigsy, n1 pumps are a waste of money.

If its single cam, why not stick with a VLT pump?

Will a RB30 pump fit fir a wider collar though? RB25 pump is also another option. You can buy them brand new for next to nothing from the states

Is a wider collar necessary? On the cam timing card i got for my Crow TX2 it has a section about oil pump choice, stating that most high flow pumps can break gears, and that most OEM standard pumps have great flow anyway, i always though that N1 pumps and the like were for twin cam heads only, and that a Std VLT one would suffice for a SOHC street build?

A nitto pump can be sourced for 1300-1400.. and sometimes 1000 on the unused 2nd hand market, why skimp out?
