Hey guys here are the issues im having any help will be appreciated! The car starts very easy and idles fine, i can rev it and it revs fine but blows a bit of black smoke! ok driving it is a totally different story as soon as it get over 2000rpm right around 2300rpm it dies and wont come back till you lift off the accelertor, so it happen when its under load but not when you rev it in nuetral? As the car warms up it runs worse realy breaking down etc Any ideas guys????? cheers Luke

VL or VLT? Smoke on start up potentially rings, but more likely your AFM is stuffed. When it goes, the ECU sort of "guesses" how much air is coming in (well, it gets incorrect readings), and combusts a poor air/fuel ratio. This results in black smoke, and poor revs under. AFM accounts for both of those symptoms. Of course, you could also have a dying CAS, causing lack of spark ("missing").

yeah VLT yeah its not rings the smoke isnt on start up its when you rev it and its black and smells of fuel, My guesses are AFM or dizzy! More details its a stock ecu with rajab plenum, stock turbo with front mount etc its also got a el TB using a el TPS i think ive wired it into the vl loom correctly but this could also be the problem?

didnt u drop this down to anth? sounds like tim said, afm related or cas issue, change those two and u should fix the problem if this happened after u got it back from anth, he tunes it normally a lil richer than normal and hence a bit of smoke under acceleration

yeah anth got it running and idling but it had a few issues like not charging and more importantly it had 2 leaking injectors so anth couldnt drive it or let it get too hot, so he let me take it home and fix these issues rathing than charging me to do it at the shop then im supposed too take it back to go on the dyno. The black smoke isnt like its just running rich its pouring out when ever the cars under load! i just reversed it up my driveway and it has a slight incline and it cough and splutter and poured out black smoke??? i cant even get it in 2 second gear with the auto it just dies as soon as it gets over 2000rpm

When i have replaced the CAS in my car, it was due to spark breaking down when the car was hot, this happened 3 times, always the CAS

ok AFM changed problem still there ill change the AFM plug next. The ecu is still in limp mode not reving passed 2500rpm the black smoke is pouring out and it does get worse when the car gets hotter so ill try the CAS also. ITS KILLING ME just want to drive it!! ---------- Post added 17-10-11 at 20:27 ---------- also has a fairly decent rear main oil leak just too realy piss me off!!! o the joy of building cars!

AFM doesn't control anything above 2000rpm or something? If it's braking down above that I wouldn't be thinking AFM. How are your connections at the CAS itself? I replaced two CAS's only to finally click on that my plug boot was disguising a bad connection. I took that off and put new connections on and it sorted things out. Have you taken a plug out to check out the spark?

Going to get a sparky out to check all the connections and go from there?

change your fuel reg over mate. Had the same problem, easy fix. Just hook up another standard one and go for a test drive

I'm running a malpassi Anthony actually told me too change it because there ****! And mine does make some bad noises, am I able to put a standard one in the relocated position where I have the malpassi or should I just get a SARD or turbosmart reg?

i ran a standard reg with 310rwhp for ages with no dramas. Even with the adjustable ones, they always run the same base pressure as standard anyway. Just try a standard one in the same position and see if it makes a difference. Malpassi is garbage anyway! Goodluck
