hey guys, cars blowing a sh%!@% load of smoke, running a master power t70 turbo, have a 1.5mm oil restrictor flange fitted, took the oil drain pipe from turbo to block off turbo and notice it was girgling and spewing out oil onto my hand,nice....removed line and fitting to block (inspected and were clean,no restrictions,no raises in line to allow it to back up then ran motor for like 5 seconds and notice it was lapping oil out of the hole where the drain fitting was.
so its pumping oil back up the drain line, and back through the turbo...whats the cure, the inside diameter of the line is like 15mm at least.
why is it pulsing oil out of the drain hole when it is above the sump level?
any ideas would be appreciated.

Sounds like turbo seals. Is their any shaft play?? (sideways, backward & forward movement)

i thought that, but ive removed the drain line off the turbo, had it running and oil is obviously running out of the turbo drain flange...but its bubbling and spluttering up through the drain line from the block.
its almost like they tapped into an oil gallery. also the drain line fitting screws into the side of the block, should it go there or should it go into the sump itself below the oil level line?
wether or not the turbo seals are gone ive still got this oil problem from the drain line...WTF!
any other suggestions?

thats the fitting im running and its coming out of that point,
the motors freshly rebuild but im wondering if the compression gasses are passing through the rings and pressurising the sump, any thoughts?
motors prob only done a thousand k's perfectly with the turbo, then 1 day BAM smoke everywhere, thought it was turbo so i got another 1 under warrant, then noticed this.
is there anything else that can cause this? perhaps an oil catch can plugged into both breathers on the rocker cover?

Try pulling your dipstick out a little with the engine running,if you get any oil out of your dipstick you have sump compression.looks like another rebuild if you do.

White smoke? Could be head gasket.
I cant imagine if the oil is only "lapping" that it would cause oil to be forced back up.

its definately oil.it was leaking through the turbo that bad it was coming out the tip of the exhaust
hope ur rong danglin otherwise shes going to the crusher!

just checked oil pressure.
35psi warm @ idle
70psi @ revs 3500rpm approx
seems a little high, anyone else aware of their oil pressure @ idle and revs to compare?

15-10-11, 21:04 GMT+10#11 My ecotec had 40psi at idle and about 70 psi at 2400rpm so sounds about right to me..

what is the max oil pressure a master power turbo can handle? wondering if thats causing it to blow through the exhaust and inlet side of the turbo.

11-11-11, 18:01 GMT+10#14 talked to master power rep. reckons the turbos can only handle 50psi max oil pressure...
recommends a -3an oil feed line no restrictor....whats everyone else running on their turbo's?
are master power turbos just ****house and i should of bought a garrett and i wouldnt be having these problems?

11-11-11, 18:45 GMT+10#15 Not necessarily in regards to turbo choice.
He should of given you litres per/min as a guide at idle. I run AN-3 on all my turbos where I can and that includes what I supply.
If he said 50psi max oil pressure and your seeing 75+ @ 3500rpm.. guess what your turbo is seeing?
You will require a restrictor on that basis but you will need to tap into the feed with a gauge and adjust the restrictor to suit.

11-11-11, 20:36 GMT+10#17 im running a 1.5mm restrictor @ the turbo (flange type),it has slowed the amount of oil coming out of the inlet and exhaust.only begins to leak @ 3000 rpm and up whereas before it was pretty well @ idle.
im guessing the line ive been running is a -4an line. do u think the -3an line will reduce the quantity of oil to the turbo enough to stop the leak?
ive got a -3an line now, simply need some reducers so i can bolt the line up.
thats the line i got

12-11-11, 08:10 GMT+10#19 catch can is setup up to front and rear breather on rocker cover. right now the exit is venting to atmosphere.
really should plumb it to intake side of turbo.
