Hey Guys, Just in the process of planning a VL project, Love VLT's but thinking i might go something a bit different. Looking at buying a Berlina or even a Calais (HAS to be MANUAL) Planning to do a ground up Supercharged Manual VL. does any one have pro's cons, power, or differences between a charger and a turbo ?. Regards sle3per.

why no no and no? Let him do what he wants, but could end up costing you more. Turbo conversion = cheap, around 1.5k all up. SC14 supercharger kit with a cooler and piping though may only cost you 800 or so, but what fuel managment would you use? VLT comp could work? A few people have used SC14 super chargers, but apparently they don't last that long especially under high loads. ---------- Post added 03-10-11 at 23:12 ---------- youtube rb30 supercharged, theres a few of them. And i think StockyMCStocky or something like that off here made a turbo + super charged turbo, worth sussing out

For the proven reliability and power output of a turbo you'd go one every day over a supercharger. Those toyota blowers in particular dont put much power out.

No point in messing with a proven formula. You'd end up spending more on SC to produce less power. If you're happy with that go for it!

yeah i went the sc14 route before turbo and it was a huge head ****. i spent 3 months making brackets and piping when i eventually got it going i got a pulley made and it was running 4 psi ya could notice the difference but it was so ugly in the bay and no one locally but me knew what they were looking at so if i had any problems i had to ask people on here that had done it. if you have plenty of time and a bit of experience with this sort of thing it wouldn't be to bad i could do alot better job now then i did back then. but i agree with NZ EVLHSV turbo is a proven formula you have everything ya need to know on this site aswell. good luck if ya decide to go with it mate.

look considering after you hit boost in a vlt your long distance travel will determine at what revs you slapped gears into, i would have thought that an sc would continue that slinshot effect every time you where on the throttle, but then again, i may be considering building yellow sl 5speed over mx grey if i go turbo which i may i want to be running a to4 garret at 17 psi
