Im about to lay some colour down on one of my cars, now im doing a 2 tone paintjob (2K), and planning to do the colour/colour/clear over a couple of weeks. Im planning on painting the whole car white, wait a week to dry then mask it up and paint the lower half black, wait a week & sand the edges then clear. my question is; allowing the paint to completely dry before applying the clear, is this ok? or does the clear have to be applied over fresh paint?

Generally you wouldnt let your paint dry completey off otherwise your clear wont have anything to adhere too but there maybe another way im not sure I understand what the problem is. You cant exaclty paint one side, then paing the other side straight away and then clear over them. I unfortunatly have limited experience with the gun but even less with two tone. Ill have a stab at trying to help you by suggesting flowcoating.?? What you should do is paint one color and clear it, wait a while couple weeks then do the other color and clear. Now your going to have a hard edge from your masking line and your clears may look diff etc. So you rub the whole car back with p1000 wet and then reclear the whole car. That will give it all an even shine, eliminate the hard edge from your mask, and lookcrazy shiny. Just be careful not too break through to paint when rubbing the clear otherwise you open up a whole can of worms. I would advise getting afully qualified painter to help you as this is just a guess, im trying to think of a way to remove the hard edge and be smooth im not sure if that idea would work. It sounds good jin theory but there is probably sn easier way i just havnt learnt it yet :/ Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Maybe there not solid colors? (although they probably are) You can clear over solid colors its up to him whether he wants too or not. They will turn out the same but maybe he wants the peace of mind knowing theres a coat of clear on it.

ok so ive got the paint side of things sorted and done. My next question is; Is there any special process when applying a 2k clear over the top of stickers?
