Hey guys, Sorry to send blood to pant regions, but really need some expert advice
-Technical differance between an MF and MX box? Fitment, internals etcetc.
- Head gasket to use on my Hi comp n/a-t.
-Can a standard VLT ecu-m be tuned or will it need to be chipped/reprogrammed/upgraded etc.
Sorry for the novice questions, but it wouldnt be a weekday night without them right?
Thanks guys,
Jacob

Depending on what power your chasing genuine head gasket will be fine, if you want extra assurance, or want to de-comp it a bit, a cometic is the way to go.
Nis-tune the ECU, or upgrade.
MF5 is 5 speed manual the n/a VL gearbox
MX7 is the 5 speed manual turbo gearbox.
Theyre both hydralic clutch. N.A Uses a 9.5" fly wheel, turbo uses a 10"
MF5s are like glass, with any sort of a turbo setup it will not last long unless you granny shift and 2500rpm. I personally know a few guys who are on their 2nd and 3rd MF5's in N.A's
MX7 are alot stronger compared to MF5. Theres plently of info threads on here, search. Most people were pushing low 12s with these boxes holding up.
Reco'd theyre around $2000 of ebay. For what its worth, get a R33. for 1000-1500
A MX7 tail shaft is usable with direct with a R33. MF5 is aswell, but you need to use a R33 yoke.
Therefor a MF5 shaft with R33 yoke should be usable on a MX7 i believe.
The rest; idunnoay
Thanks FLY03L, yeah i have all the information regarding that, but i was led to believe that the housings wont line up for eg an mx7 wont fit onto the back of an N/a motor? I had been convinced at somepoint that the lug location and bolt holes were differant?
-Thanks Paulieeee, yeah i think I'll go the cometic item just to be on the safe side.
-Zaksvl its the best way to get attention on here by mentioning birds and VLs in one sentance

bolt pattern is completely compatible. no problems there.
MX7 is a bit more of a headache to get in, but no worse than any other big box, much better than some actually.
be careful with the right angle drive speedo sensor though.
