So ive had abit of a history with the old girl miss firing. So i changed my plugs, which where all burnt out, after 500km IF that. And today (about 3 weeks after the plug change, and 100km if that), she started splattering, wouldnt boost, would barely move. Thought it was electrics just getting hot as she had no heat shields on, checked my plugs for good measure, and this is what im left with... Obviously shes running too rich right? Anyone know if AVO has moved to their new location in Hallam yet? might source a new exhaust and go in for a tune Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I had the same issue with my old Supra... and the cause was running to rich. In my case I had put some new 750cc injectors in and the car was tuned for 550cc injectors.

Well i got an e6x, so im pretty sure im only using the map sensor? Hmm so you think putting bigger injectors would make it run less rich? Doesnt really make sense, would make you think it would run richer with a bigger injector?

Sorry just rephrased my sentance above... my car was running rich due to the increase in injector size... point I was getting at was if your running aftermarket injectors and a base map on your aftermaket ecu... chances are your running way to much fuel and fouling your plugs quite quickly.

Hi mate, I had similar symptoms with my VL and it ended up being a faulty airflow meter. After changing that all went back to normal. Good luck. TJ ---------- Post added 29-09-11 at 21:43 ---------- Sorry mate, I didn't see that you have an aftermarket computer. Never mind the below. Haha, all good. I was having a think with my beer, and thought maybe because i disconnect my battery quite alot, sometimes for a whole week that maybe the Ecu has lost its tune and going back to base map? But then again i dont think so, because its always been like this...

put a MSD6A or 6AL on it, my car when first had it fouled the p[lugs bad I put the MAD on and instantly stop fouling the plugs due to the extra spark......

I like your thinking brother, will definantly sus it out. My plugs are currently gapped to .9, would this make a difference to the ammount of spark coming?

Looking at these, but not sure if they'll work strait up with the VL. Anyone using these? and can recommend or give some feedback on them? MSD BLASTER 3 IGNITION COIL RED 45,000 VOLT MSD8223

Better rich then lean though Often too rich a mix causes excessive bore wash. fuel washes oil from the bores causing premature engine wear, loss of compression etc. Whats the fuel economy like? litres per 100 km?

Aww man now I've got something else to worry about too =[ Fuel economy wise, i cant really say, it had 2 leaking injectors for a while, so cant really give a good estimate when you got fuel on the floor. Once i replaced the leaking injectors, i changed the plugs at the same time, which are gapped to 0.9 or .9 whatever you call it. The old plugs where also black as ****, and the NEW onces, 100km, are the ones you see in the picture above. Again, black as ****. I cant honestly comment on the fuel economy, but im pretty sure its poor. What pisses me off most, is i took this all into consideration when building the car, and getting it tuned, so i gave them a malpassi risign rate fuel regulator, and the response i get is "We dont want to touch that"......... ok great....thanks....... And what pisses me off more, is apparently my injectors where maxxing out on 8psi or something like that...... well obviously not...... Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

What ratio is the Malpassi ? If its a ratio greater than 1:1, the car will need more than just a loaded power tune run. Alot of time will need to be spent getting cruize mixture correct. Injectors often only ever max out at full load 'and' over a specific rpm. The Calibrator/Tuner needs to either set the rev limit or boost so this doesn't ever happen. e.g. at stock VLT is smashing 81% duty through injectors at 4800rpm. at 5600 the injectors have almost gone static @ 96% DC. At 6000 - 109% commanded DC, game over, starting to lean out. the only engine saver is the fact the factory mapping is about 10% rich to begin with. Still pushing the boundaries of the injectors, a rising ratio fuel pressure regulator is needed (quick fix) to keep things in check, otherwise larger injectors are the only other option along with a fuel supply upgrade.
