Hi Calaisturbo users, Ive owned a Holden Calais VR series 2 for 7 months and have had a constant problem with my break system, the car has been brought to at least 5 different mechanics and Holden Specialist all of them cant seem to find the problem and at most fix it for a few weeks. When i apply the breaks they become very stiff and car pulls drastically to the right hand side, abs kicks in to early and a larger then normal stopping distance is required to reduce the car speed safely. Car was brought to Brake specialist only front right brake engages other wheels do not activate when pressing brakes calipers have all been rebuilt problem was not solved, bleeding has not helped, abs unit not the cause (4 different units put in same problem),brake booster doesn't seem to have any problems. EXTRA INFO: Before my Purchase the car had a perfect history with no problems with brakes this was verified, however the previous owner swapped the VR brakes for larger VT brakes with the proper kit, also everyone tends to lean towards the ABS unit but its been replaces 4 times and the problem keeps occurring which makes me lean towards an underlying problem instead, wheels r aligned correctly, brake pads r new, all hoses have been replaced, system has been flushed multiple times and no visible damage or problems have been found. Could it be electrical/computer related? i had a audio system installed when i first bought the car cant tell if it could be related or not, in my opinion highly unlikely but had it mentioned to me. I really need help with this if anyone has any advice or ideas post, its such a problem im debating just selling the car and buying something safer cheers

only thing left would be calipers if its pulling to one side maybe one caliper is seized or something wrong with the master cylinder on things i can think of

What ABS unit is it being replaced with? VT or VR-VS unit? Also, it is possible the calipers are seized. But I would hope out of 5 workshops, they've been removed and checked/rebuilt.

VR-VS units all second hand but the original one had the same problem and calipers have been checked and rebuilt once didn't fix the problem, is it possiable that it could have something 2 do with a bad signal being received from the computer? it seems unlikely but i had a audio system installed a month before this all started occurring

is there some sort of control unit which controls the abs unit or is it incorporated? Has the master cylinder been replaced?

Could be faulty ABS sensors on the wheels, or it is possible the audio install has messed something up. Seen some pretty bad wiring jobs. As above, try unplugging the ABS unit and see how it goes. It will still brake fine without it.

hey tried unplugging abs unit all it did was make all my brakes redundant ive discovered a voltage problem which might be the cause currently investigating it to see if its linked sensors are fine as is the master cylinder the problem as a few have told me lies directly with the abs flow coming out of the unit cheers for the responses
