this is abit of a random post basicly im trying to find imprashion to keep working on the vl anyway it started off a mint s2 vl calais non turbo - it then started its life with me when i was 16 and there wasnt a dint or mark anywhere , as time went by and parking it at coles one day were some 1 smashed there door into my front gaurd leaving a nice dint over the calais badge i wasnt happy , as we got into 2010 there were signs of paint flake on the boot lid witch i wasnt happy with due to some one respraying the lid befor i owned it , and also the nose cone has also flaked now witch when i look at it makes me want to just give up ,as iv put so much money into keeping it on the road and now iv hit a dead end haha is it really worth respraying/fixing the rust / and then redoing the motor again.due to the motor in it now on its way out , heres a photo of how it was sitting when i had fully built it and i was inlove with it . also has anyway else got storys the same Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

mate its a vl commodore, its gonna have good days and many more bad ones. but when its good, its awesome. i think thats why people keep them and find it so hard to sell up.. get it repainted and put another standard motor init if need be. or store it. i once owned a berlina turbo. i fixed it all up, i waited 4 months for an engine change when it was my only car. resprayed things myself. then my gearbox completely destroyed itself and clutch. so i rebuilt that and then the head gasket went. then i tryed to sell it, no luck, so i stripped it down and sold it for parts, to do a complete rebuild only to find a **** load of rust. i lost 10k on that thing. but i dont regret it. im doing it all over again, but this time i brought an awesome shell to start with. once i finally got it all running sweet. how it ended up. my new one, Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Speaking from experience i wouldnt sell it, i have lost count of how many vl's i have owned, from n/a's - turbo's auto & man - V8 carby & EFI, always managed to hate them at some point and sell them, regretting it later, i've since been through god knows how many cars from imports to HSV's, Rotary's etc, currently have a VY SS 6 Speed im selling to buy a VLT again, this time i wont be selling. I dont care what anyone says theres is no car i have had as much fun in as my VLT's! My rotar came close but i couldnt justify the price they are fetching these days. Thats my experience, is it your daily? if so buy another daily and put it in the garage and tidy it up, keep it as a weekender, otherwise you will probably regret it like myself lol

I've had VL's for 12 years.. current one has been with me for about 8 years now. So many times I have cried enough - but the missus won't let me sell it, she knows i'd regret it. When I have spare money to spend on it, its all good. When I break it and don't have the $ for it, it just sits patiently waiting for me in the garage. As much as it doesn't return the money spent on it, i'll still pour $ into it to fix it, or give it a make-over. It's this that gives me enjoyment, and I probably wouldn't get up for work if I didn't need $ to pay for the bloody VL.

If you haven't got a VL to spend money on (obviously you have one to begin with because you like them) then you're gonna end up wasting money or something else if you decide to give up anyway! It's a hobby.. We all know there's no financial gain to be had from VL Turbo's especially when they're modified fairly extensively.. So I say if you like VL's, you have one and it's pissing u off when it breaks.. Think why you have one in the first place! You didn't buy it for its reliability or as an investment you bought it because you're interested it's something to work on something to keep you out of trouble something to spend a bit of money on and something to enjoy!

If you think you're over it then park it up for three months and dont drive it. After that time go and wash it and drive it and see how it feels, you will probably have missed it. It's hard selling a car you like but then again you can look forward to a new monaro!

you do hit a brick wall especially when its winter, when it warms up you get out more and see awesome cars on the road which ignites the fire again and youll be back in your beast before you know it!

But honestly THC, i love your VL, made me fall for the old Maroon over silver, even became my mrs favorite color on the vl (and she hates cars). Dont sell it bro, you will regret it, i miss my calais sooooooooooooo much. And even with another VL, which is also turbo, i still miss my N/a calais =[
